Frankies Nov 21 Virtual Rehearsal

Frankie's show info Nov 21 (Adam has to leave early so lets shoot for 12:30 rehearsal).

I will make this page the go-to page for the details and song samples, and setlists.

First set is exactly the order of Live at the Jazz Cellar. I FIXED REPEATS AND STUFF ON A FEW CHARTS SO THEY ARE MORE PLAYABLE, INCLUDING SHAKE IT DOWN (note new arrangement) and IN SANTO QUALA. I ALSO SWAPPED OUT A TUNE AND ADDED MISSISSIPPI JUMP. Be sure you add the latest to your ipads.

I made a few rehearsal notes on some charts for soloists, but most tunes will have most all of us soloing. Adam has a feature on Mississippi Jump, Funk In Deepfreeze, Count Me In, In Santo Quala, and the intro to Si Bonita. I will 'pass around' most solos, so keep your head on a swivel, and look for some waving arms.

1. Comfort Zone  2. Berlin  3. Check This Out   4. In Santo Quala   5. Si Bonita  6. Come Back Home  7. Peace Song  8. Shake It Down

Set two will start with:
1. Kissed By the Sun Again, followed by

2. Cat Levan vocal on Summertime in Amin with this feel:

3. Nutville  4. No One Like You  5. Rockin the Ribjoint   6. Funk In Deepfreeze 7. Mississippi Jump
8. Count Me In  9. La Samba  10. Mulberry St. 11. Coming Home For Mardi Gras.  (If needed.)

I'd like to play the CD order more or less straight through for the first set, then a mix of others for the second- just two sets 8-9, and 9:30-10:30. Set list below.

On the LATJC show, Diane Lines played piano only, and Miles played 2nd keys/synth and guitar. Adam, Glenn, and Paul can drive us, and everyone will get lots of solo space. Glenn will bring a piccolo bass for a feature, so Kristian can play key bass on a tune to flesh it out. I suggest Jason stick with the grand piano and Kristian can add all the secondary parts (there are mute and flute answers and trades), so Kristian can cherry pick depending on the tune. I do love Moogy synth sounds. One example that is critical and indicative is KISSED BY THE SUN AGAIN.  It is on the Billboard charts right now and should be pretty high up into 'hit' territory by then.
